After ongoing and frustrating contract negotiations with the Seahawks, Russell Wilson and Seattle agreed on a major contract worth 4 years and $87.6 million with $60 million guaranteed and a $31 million signing bonus.
Wilson will have the second highest average per year salary among quarterbacks, only behind Aaron Rodgers. He has proven to be a winner in his short time in the NFL, and the Seahawks were not able to let him walk. Hopefully he does not get injured with his playing style and all of that guaranteed money.
All in all, it was a great deal for both sides, and Wilson should be able to lead the Seahawks to another Lombardi Trophy during his new contract, which kicks in next season. Wilson will be 30 in 2019 when his contract ends.
