After capping off the college basketball conference tournament schedule with a loss in the Big Ten Tournament, the Wisconsin Badgers have learned their NCAA Tournament destiny.
The No. 8 seeded Badgers will play the No. 9 seeded Virginia Tech Hokies (22-10) in Buffalo, NY on Thursday at approximately 8:40pm CT. Former Marquette head coach Buzz Williams is the head coach of Virginia Tech. This is Wisconsin’s 19th straight NCAA Tournament appearance, the fifth longest streak in NCAA history.
Wisconsin finished with a 25-9 record and second in the Big Ten in the regular season and the Big Ten Tournament, yet was rewarded a No. 8 seed.
The Badgers, if they advance, would take on the No. 1 Villanova Wildcats (if they win, which they will), the reigning tournament champions.
The time is still to be determined for Thursday.
