Maker played in, and started, all five games for the Bucks, who finished 1-4 in summer league play. He tied for second on the team in scoring (14.2 ppg) with RaShad James, finishing only behind second-year player Rashad Vaughn.
In his first outing with the team, Maker finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds in the Bucks’ opening round win versus the Cleveland Cavaliers. He then upped his debut by posting a 17-point, 17-rebound performance the following day against a D-League Select team.
Joining Maker on the Second Team was rookie Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics, who was third overall in this year’s draft. Kelly Oubre Jr. (Washington), Norman Powell (Toronto) and Tyler Ulis (Phoenix) rounded out the team. Powell was drafted 46th overall in last year’s NBA Draft and was a part of the trade that sent Powell to Toronto in exchange for Greivis Vasquez. Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Tyus Jones was named Summer League MVP. The Timberwolves and Chicago Bulls square off for the Las Vegas title Monday night.
