Jaylan Franklin, a tight end from Gibraltar, Michigan, verbally committed to Wisconsin on Monday evening. Franklin, a three-star athlete, will join the 2018 recruiting class for Wisconsin.

Franklin made a visit to Wisconsin during the weekend of June 9 during a high school camp the Badgers hosted. Before the weekend, Franklin had narrowed down his choices between a few major schools, but ultimately chose Wisconsin after his time in Madison.

He made the announcement via Twitter, saying, “It is truly a blessing to have the things that I have and I couldn’t be more thankful….I want to thank every coach who took the time to recruit me and give me a chance to play at the next level. I appreciate it all, but after receiving 21 Division 1 scholarships, from the Big Ten to SEC to ACC to PAC-12 and MAC, I’ve decided I will be committing to the University of Wisconsin.”

Franklin will join the roster as a tight end, though he has experience playing many positions including outside linebacker and quarterback. He is comfortable with the ball, and has good control of his movements on the field. He is also extremely athletic, as evident in his 4.52 second 40-yard dash, and with his knowledge of many positions, can fill in any holes on the Wisconsin roster and make an impact from the get-go.

He was the top rated football tight end recruit from the state of Michigan, and he turned down instate offers from Michigan State to come play for Wisconsin. Franklin is the first tight end commit for the Class of 2018 at Wisconsin and is the third recruit to come out of Michigan.
