The moment can mean different things for different people, so I took a moment to ask a few players who have been on the team for almost three years to compare tonight’s win over Xavier to beating Kentucky last season or another game in their careers.
BRONSON KOENIG: “It’s kind of hard to compare because it’s two totally different teams and two totally kind of different games. But, I’m so proud of how far we’ve come, and no one really believed we’d get to this point. For us to all collectively just believe in each other and that’s how we got this done. It feels great to get to this point with a group of guys that I can call my family. So, yeah, it’s a great feeling.”
ZAK SHOWALTER: “That’s a close one. I think this one’s – I don’t know, that’s tough. They’re both right there. They’re two of the biggest wins I’ve been a part of.” – Zak Showalter
NIGEL HAYES: “That was second [to Kentucky]. Just the magnitude, and the next game that was won with Kentucky was the National Championship game, and this one just put us in the Sweet Sixteen. Still great moments and memories nonetheless, but you know this is still top two, two three of all-time.”
