The Milwaukee Bucks have signed 24-year-old guard Jared Cunningham to a ten-day contract Wednesday morning.
The former first-round draft pick out of Oregon State has bounced around the NBA in his short career, being a part of now six different teams since joining the league in 2012.
His most recent contributions came in the D-League, where he started in three games for the Idaho Stampede, averaging 17.3 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds in 32 minutes per game. Beginning the season with the Cavaliers, he appeared in 40 games playing just under nine minutes per contest.
The Bucks were recently granted a hardship exception from the NBA, which is given to a team who has suffered four or more injured or sick players who have missed at least three games in a row. The exception allows for a team to exceed the 15-man maximum roster.
Cunningham will look to contribute to a depleted Bucks’ backcourt, which will be without Michael Carter-Williams and O.J. Mayo for the rest of the season. Point guard Greivis Vasquez returned to practice on Wednesday and will be looking to help take load of the Bucks’ guards.
