After announcing his transfer decision on December 13, right before Bo Ryan retired, former Wisconsin guard Riley Dearring has chosen Cal-State Fullerton University as his next school.
A source tells Sconnie Sports Talk that Dearring took an official visit to Cal-State Fullerton only a few weeks after announcing his transfer. He also received calls from Wisconsin rivals such as Maryland, Minnesota, and other Big Ten schools. Dearring wanted to play right away, and the Titans likely offer that possibility.
Dearring will be able to play next season for the Titans since he transferred during the first semester this season. The Titans are 9-7 this season and play in the Big West Conference. Both Bruce Bowen and Cedric Ceballos played there before having solid NBA careers.
Dearring’s transfer did not come as a surprise from the Minnetonka, MN native, who barely saw the court this season. Once rated as the second-best prospect in Minnesota’s Class of 2013 by ESPN Recruiting Nation, Dearring appeared in 15 games last season. He had only played in three games this season.
