After suffering a disappointing loss to Clarkson in the national championship game last season, the Wisconsin women’s hockey team will look to take the next step in 2017. Yesterday, the 2017-2018 season schedule was released, and the players, coaching staff and fans can mark their calendars for plenty of big games.
To start off the season, the team will play an exhibition game at home against South Korea. From there, everything counts and they will face a tough schedule. The Badgers have ten matchups with tournament teams from last season and will have to battle with their way through 24 WCHA games if they hope to win their conference again.
To open conference play, Wisconsin will play at Minnesota State on October 13th and 14th before heading home the next week to face Bemidji State in Madison on the 20th and 22nd. The first matchup with rivals Minnesota will come on October 28th and 29th before the top two WCHA teams meet again in Madison to close out the regular season in mid February.
After a run all the way to the title game last year, another deep tournament run for the always great women’s hockey team should be the goal.
