Kidd was originally brought on in 2014 by the Bucks and signed a three-year deal following the Bucks’ 15 win season. In exchange for the rights to Kidd, Milwaukee also sent Kidd’s former team, the Brooklyn Nets, two second-round draft picks.
With currently one year remaining on the original deal, Kidd’s stay with Milwaukee will now be extended to the year 2020.
Rumors had previously circulated about Kidd possibly entering a management role with the organization, but the extension confirms his understanding that he will be the head coach moving forward.
Kidd will be entering his fourth season as a head coach, making the playoffs in two of his first three seasons.
