Adam Schefter broke the news on Twitter around 2:25 p.m. that former Wisconsin RB Montee Ball has been signed to the Patriots practice squad.
Ball joins former teammate James White in New England amongst a core of injured running backs. According to ESPN staff writer Mike Reiss, Ball already has a locker set up for him in the Foxborough facility.
The signing comes in the wake of a LeGarrette Blount hip injury suffered in a 27-6 win over the Texans on Sunday night.
Ball should expect to work hard under head coach Bill Belichick, a change from his traditional rumored work ethic. Going forward, he could be used in a depleted New England backfield.
