It looks like Mequon native Jordan Niebrugge will be heading to the United Kingdom once again next month to compete for the United States in the 2015 Walker Cup. Niebrugge was part of the American team that won in 2013, and he is the only returning player.
Niebrugge will look to continue his magic in the UK after finishing tied sixth in the Open Championship at St. Andrews in July and winning his goal: medal of low amateur.
The annual tournament between the U.S. and Great Britain & Ireland occurs every odd-numbered year and takes place this year September 12-13 at Royal Lytham & St. Anne’s. The U.S. owns the all-time series 35-8-1.
The U.S. team is as follows:
- Bryson DeChambeau, 21 (SMU)
- Scott Harvey, 37
- Beau Hossler, 20 (Texas)
- Denny McCarthy, 22
- Lee McCoy, 21 (Georgia)
- Mike McCoy, 52
- Maverick McNealy, 19 (Stanford)
- Jordan Niebrugge, 22 (Oklahoma State)
- Robby Shelton, 19 (Alabama)
- Hunter Stewart, 22 (Vanderbilt)
Paul Dunne, Irish breakout player, will play for the Great Britain & Ireland team.
