After Saturday night’s loss to Penn State, Wisconsin has learned its bowl game destiny.
The Badgers will take on No. 12/14 Western Michigan (13-0) in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on January 2nd. The game will be broadcast on ESPN at 1 p.m. CT from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Wisconsin was ranked No. 8 in both the AP and Coaches Polls. The Badgers finished their season at 10-3 (6-3 Big Ten). Season highlights included beating a top-five LSU team at Lambeau field and beating Nebraska at home in overtime.
Western Michigan is one of just two Divison I teams to go undefeated this year, the other being Alabama. They beat Ohio in the MAC Championship game 29-23, and they are currently 2-0 against the Big Ten this year with wins over Northwestern and Illinois.
This year’s College Football Playoff will feature matchups of No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Washington and No. 2 Clemson vs. No. 3 Ohio State, with the Big 12 being the only Power 5 Conference without a team represented this year. No. 5 Penn State and No. 6 Michigan, along with Wisconsin, will miss the playoff.
