According to sources at Football Scoop, Wisconsin will name former USC defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox for the same position, replacing Dave Aranda.

Football Scoop indicated last week that Wilcox was the favorite and they expected him to get the job. Linebackers coach Tim Tibesar seemed to be the other strong candidate.

Wilcox, 39, spent the last two seasons at USC. In 2014, USC’s defense was top 20 in the country in turnover margin, red zone defense and third down conversion defense. 2015 was a different story, however, as Wilcox was fired by head coach Clay Helton at the end of the season. He also has experience also at Boise State, Tennessee, and Washington. The 39-year old runs a 3-4 system, which is similar to Aranda’s scheme.

Wisconsin has not made an official announcement, but we will update you if they do. Alex Marvez of Fox Sports has also confirmed the report.
