Senior offensive tackle Cole Van Lanen earned preseason honors yesterday. It was announced yesterday that he was named a part of the Walter Camp preseason All-American First Team. He joins Iowa’s Keith Duncan and Ohio State’s Wyatt Davis as the only Big Ten players on the first-team offense.
Van Lanen heads into the 2020 season as one of the most experienced and heralded offensive lineman in the nation. He is coming off of a 2019 season where he started 13 games at left tackle for the Badgers and was named second-team all Big Ten. The experienced offensive tackle has started 14 games and played in 40 games throughout his career in Madison.
There was some buzz surrounding Van Lanen and the possibility of his early departure for the NFL but his decision to return is paying off early. Van Lanen will lead an experienced offensive line unit and look to keep up Wisconsin’s great tradition in the trenches.
