It can be hard celebrating holidays in a brand new city. Former Badger basketball star Sam Dekker found himself in that scenario this Fourth of July, and decided to create his own fun.
Dekker reached out to his Twitter followers asking if anyone would be interested in participating in a Home Run Derby.

He got a response early on from local high school student Josh Wolf, with a time and location specified.
Their correspondence continued, with Wolf supplying an exact location, along with assuring Dekker that he only needed himself to play, and they would have a glove ready to go for him when he got there. Thankfully, they didn’t have to wait long:

Wolf later thanked Dekker for his kindness and participation.
It was a night any fan could only dream of, and it didn’t go unnoticed. Even Packers safety HaHa Clinton-Dix took recognition.
Dekker will continue to work on his basketball game this summer as a member of the Houston Rockets, as he looks to come back from a season marred with injuries and time in the D-League.
