National Signing Day went just about as planned in Madison, WI on Wednesday, as Wisconsin Football signed 23 scholarship players as expected and 6 preferred walk-ons. QB Karé Lyles and LB Dallas Jeanty early enrolled at Wisconsin this semester, so the total number of scholarship players went up to 25.

LS/WR Jake Cesear was the only committed scholarship player not to sign with the Badgers today, but he will only be a partial scholarship athlete after breaking his leg in a car accident. According to Benjamin Worgull of The Badger Nation, Cesear told him that he will be a walk-on for two years and then on scholarship for three.

According to 247 Sports, this was Wisconsin’s highest-rated class in program history. By 9:00 AM, 24 of the team’s 26 scholarship players had officially signed. U.S. Army All-American DL Garrett Rand officially signed around 9:30 AM, making it 25 total to go with Lyles and Jeanty.

Paul Chryst and his coaching staff landed a top 30 recruiting class in the nation. This year’s class comes from all over the nation, as you can see by this map of scholarship players from the Badgers.

There are only a few Wisconsin natives in terms of scholarship players, but more than half of the preferred walk-ons are from Wisconsin. The Badgers only officially signed 6 preferred walk-ons, although we were expecting them to sign 9. Those others still need to be admitted and enrolled in the University, according to Paul Chryst.CaTPWrpUEAAQ7GO
