Aleem Ford will miss significant time this season after injuring his knee during practice and will undergo surgery on Wednesday. He is expected to return later this season.
The sophomore forward was expected to be an integral cog in Wisconsin’s front court this upcoming season. During his freshman season, Ford recorded 5.8 points per game and averaged 2.8 rebounds. Ford’s threat from three will be missed, where he found success from beyond the arc 40.9 percent of the time.
Wisconsin will need to see an uptick in production from Nate Reuvers and an experienced senior, in the likes of Charlie Thomas or Alex Illikainen, to bear some of the brunt of Ford’s absence.
Wisconsin opens their season with an exhibition against UW-Oshkosh on Friday.
