The Badger softball team kicks off Big Ten play this upcoming weekend, as they host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights for their first home weekend of the season.

Wisconsin is coming off of a 35-17 season in 2017, and is looking to improve on that this year. The Badgers were 11-11 in Big Ten play last season, and appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time.

So far, the Badgers are ranked in the top five in sacrifice bunts, stolen bases, attempted steals, walks, sacrifice flies and on base percentage.

Wisconsin is coming off of a weekend at the Wildcat Invitational in Tucson, Arizona. They went 2-3 on the weekend with Kaitlyn Menz giving up only one hit against 24th ranked USC Upstate. The Badgers have also defeated 11th ranked Auburn this season.

They will begin conference play this weekend when they face off against Rutgers at Goodman Diamond , while the Badgers only played Rutgers once last season and won 5-1.

Rutgers is 15-14 so far this season. Ohio State currently leads the Big Ten with a record of 19-4.
