Redshirt junior Ethan Happ was unanimously voted to the Preseason All-Big Ten team on Thursday.
Happ’s sophomore season was littered with honors, such as First Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, so the Badgers’ big man garnering preseason recognition is no surprise.
Last season Happ averaged 14 PPG, 9 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.8 SPG, and 1.2 BPG. Happ was the only player in the Big Ten to lead his team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks during conference play.
With the departure of longtime Badger standouts Bronson Koenig, Nigel Hayes, Zak Showalter, and Vitto Brown, Happ will be expected to carry the load even more for the upcoming season for Wisconsin. Other than D’Mitrik Trice, who started two games last season while Koenig battled an injury, Happ is the only Badger with true starting experience returning.
Players joining Happ on the All-Big Ten Team were Miles Bridges (Michigan State), Bryant McIntosh (Northwestern), Justin Jackson (Maryland), Moritz Wagner (Michigan), Nick Ward (Michigan State), Amir Coffey (Minnesota), Nate Mason (Minnesota), Vincent Edwards (Purdue), and Scottie Lindsey (Northwestern).
