The Wisconsin Athletic Department confirmed Wednesday that senior defensive end Chikwe Obasih suffered an injury during Wednesday morning’s practice, per Wisconsin State Journal’s Jason Galloway.

Multiple outlets reported that the injury is on his knee, but UW Athletics never confirmed this. The severity of the injury or a timetable on when he can return to practice is unknown at this time.

Obasih has played in 41 games with 31 career starts and owns 84 tackles to his name. A native of Brookfield, Wisconsin, his experience on the defensive line is extensive and he provides much-needed leadership to the team. It is likely that redshirt freshman Isaiahh Loudermilk would see more playing time as a result of the injury. Loudermilk recorded a sack in last week’s game against Utah State, his first career game for the Badgers.
