Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski announced on Sunday afternoon that the Bucks have narrowed down on their GM search.
The final list: Justin Zanik (Bucks assistant GM), Noah Croom (Minnesota assistant GM), Peter Dinwiddie (Indiana VP of basketball operations), Pat Garrity (Detroit assistant GM), Arturas Karnisovas (Denver assistant GM), and Ed Stefanski (Memphis VP of player personnel).
Former Bucks GM John Hammond left for the same position with Orlando with a year remaining on his contract. It is widely believed that the Bucks were not going to bring Hammond back, and gave him the opportunity to leave a year early. Hammond has close ties with Jeff Weltman, the Magic’s President.
Zanik was hired by the Bucks in 2016 and was figured to be Hammond’s replacement. People within the league were shocked that the Bucks did a wider search in the first place. Wojnarowski reported that he is still the favorite for the job.
Wojnarowski also reported that Bucks owners Marc Lasry and Wes Edens are both going to be part of the interviews in New York City this week. With the draft approaching quickly on June 22, Milwaukee will want to have its GM in place.
