Defense reigns supreme for this year’s Wisconsin Badgers’ squad. The Big Ten Conference announced All-Conference teams for both defense and special teams. Twelve Wisconsin defenders took home honors and kicker Rafael Gaglianone also made the All-Conference second team.

Cornerback Nick Nelson and linebacker T.J. Edwards lead the way with consensus first team All-Big Ten honors. Injury-plagued D’Cota Dixon was voted first team by the coaches but only third team by the media.

Overall the coaches were much more favorable to Wisconsin players as the second team included defense ends Alec James and Conor Sheehy along with outside linebacker Garret Dooley.

Only Alec James was voted second team All-Big Ten by the media with the other falling onto the third team.

Cornerback Derrick Tindal also was voted third team All-Big Ten by his opposing coaches. The media placed him in the honorable mentions list.

Consensus honorable mentions for Wisconsin were linebackers Ryan Connelly and Leon Jacobs, defensive backs Joe Ferguson and Natrell Jamerson and nose tackle Olive Sagapolu.

Senior Joe Ferguson also took home the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award for Wisconsin.
