According to a report from Fox 11 News in Oshkosh, the city’s Common Council has approved plans to build a $15 million, 3,500-capacity stadium in a unanimous vote.
The stadium would be located on South Main Street. Although the city approved the plan, the Bucks have yet to select a city in which to house their D-League team.
In August, potential locations were narrowed down to just three – Racine, Sheboygan and Oshkosh. La Crosse and Grand Chute were also considered.
In July, SST spoke to Greg Pierce, who was leading the campaign to bring the team to Oshkosh.
“The Fox Valley is considered to be the second largest media market in Wisconsin,” Pierce told us. “Oshkosh is under one hour and thirty minutes to the Bucks new arena and practice facility, [and] we have a large untapped entertainment market during the October to March time frame.”
Though the city’s move has likely incentivized the Bucks to choose Oshkosh, the team has not yet commented on where its D-League affiliate will be located.
