Following an exhilirating 23-17 overtime win against Nebraska in Camp Randall, Wisconsin (6-2, 3-2) moved up to No. 8 in theย Associated Press and Coaches Polls.

The Badgers’ move upwards was aided not only by their defeat of a previously undefeated team, but the additional losses of former #8 Baylor to Texas and former #10 West Virginia to Oklahoma State.

There now remain just five undefeated teams in the NCAA: Group of Five-hopeful Western Michigan, as well as Alabama, Michigan, Clemson and Washington. The first College Football Playoff poll will be released on Tuesday night at 6:00pm CT.

With their win yesterday, Wisconsin moved to just a game back of Nebraska (4-1) in the Big Ten West, and sits in a four-way tie for second with Minnesota, Iowa and Northwestern at 3-2. However, that’s likely to change, as Nebraska will have to go on the road to Columbus next week to face off against the Buckeyes.

Wisconsin will get unranked Northwestern in Evanston on Saturday at 11:00am CT, before coming home to face Illinois. The Badgers opened as seven-point favorites against the Wildcats.
