MADISON — As expected, it appears Greg Gard will roll out the same starters as last year to begin the upcoming 2016-17 season.

During practice on Tuesday afternoon, Bronson Koenig, Zak Showalter, Nigel Hayes, Vitto Brown and Ethan Happ were the starting five during the main halfcourt offensive and defensive drills. They opened the halfcourt drills together and were clearly the first team. That starting combination started 34 of 35 games together last season and was really clicking by the end of the season.

Underclassmen Khalil Iverson, Alex Illikainen, Charlie Thomas, D’Mitrik Trice, and Brevin Pritzl also saw some time with the first team during drills.

Gard has been keen on not naming any part of his starters or rotation quite yet, so bear in mind this is just from observation in practice and not official.
