On Saturday, Wisconsin almost suffered a disastrous result against their last non-conference opponent Georgia State. After a switch at quarterback, the offense came alive and pulled off the 23-17 win. Such a close call should have warranted a drop in the polls for Wisconsin.

Yet in the Amway Coaches poll, Wisconsin moved up to #10 and in the AP poll they fell to the #11 spot after reaching the ninth spot in last week’s rankings. Wisconsin avoided a drastic fall by winning the game and by the fact that middle ranked teams, like Texas, Notre Dame and Florida Stat,  lost their Week 3 matchups.

Michigan State, Wisconsin’s first Big Ten opponent of the season and next week’s matchup, is ranked as the eighth best team in the nation, per AP.

They will play next Saturday in East Lansing at 11:00 a.m. CST.
