Junior Guerra, who was in the middle of an excellent rookie year campaign, will miss his next start coming up on Tuesday due to elbow inflammation.

Wily Peralta will pitch in his spot after being called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs. In his 10 starts, Peralta is 1-3 with a 6.31 ERA, 1.74 WHIP, and .324 average against in the minors. He has pitched better of late, however, including an 11-strikeout game. Peralta was orginally sent down after going 4-7 and posting a rough 6.68 ERA and allowing almost 100 hits in only 66 innings pitched.

Guerra has been electric this season, and the Brewers better hope his elbow is in better shape than indicated. The 31-year old rookie has posted a 7-3 record and a 2.93 ERA while striking out 90 over 107.1 innings.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell gave insight into the possibilty of a DL stint for Guerra, as seen on Fox Sports Wisconsin.

“Junior’s got some elbow inflammation so it’s a possible DL, probably hold off until tomorrow to make the final decision on that,” Counsell said.

In other news, RHP David Goforth has been optioned to Triple-A and RHP Rob Scahill is being recalled on Monday. OF Domingo Santana will begin another rehab assignment at Single-A Wisconsin.
