In wake of a rebuild, Brewers fans have something exciting to cheer about.

On late Monday night in San Diego, it was officially announced that top Brewers prospect and #13 overall prospect (MLBPipeline) Orlando Arcia will be called up.

The 21-year old shortstop has a .268/.320/.404 line in AAA Colorado Springs this year with 8 home runs and 53 RBIs. Arcia is also well-known for his glove, making several highlight-reel plays in the minors this season.

Arcia will make his major league debut Tuesday night at shortstop wearing #3, with Jonathan Villar playing third base.

The promotion of Arcia will mean a permanent switch to third base for Villar, and likely a move to right field for Hernan Perez. Arcia is undoubtedly the shortstop of the future and the Brewers want to see how Villar fairs at third base, as he is now in their longterm plans.

News broke of Arcia’s promotion by The Brewer Nation’s Adam Rigg, as well as this Instagram from Orlando’s brother, Oswaldo, an outfielder with the Tampa Bay Rays.
